Yellow Finds

Hasn't the weather been beautiful! so sunny. Makes me feel warm and think of all things yellow.
I know in my next house (yes - there will be one, Im sure) I want a yellow front door.
In my house now it would look odd. But I love them so much.

Whats not to love about yellow?

I have a friend who hates Orange, I love orange but I get its not for everyone, same with Green some people loath it, I get puzzled but people not liking a colour. I dont LOVE purple, but then I can see it used in the right way or on a pretty dress and admire how great a colour it is.
But, I have to ask  what sort of person could not love yellow, a sad person perhaps, a gloomy type, its one of those colours to me that no one could dislike.

Right Stripe

Can anything be more lovely than a stripey room, its so fresh and fun.
I have painted a striped room before,

please when you look at these rooms feel for the person that painted them, its a hard job, but the result is most definatly worth it.

Beautiful!!

friendly festivites

me and my girls feeling a bit warm

Me, Miss M and my Hubby.. we all look over it.. but were were not at all!!

me looking strangly like a gecko. eek.

some pics, because I cant find my camera cord.. agggghh!!! so I had to steal my mates pics of what I have been doing.
Birthdays and
Soundwaves - Faith No More were so good, I was blown away! I knew they would be good but I was just .. blown A W A Y!

Was nice to get my lovely husband out for the day, I normally fly solo to these sorts of things.
He had a good time with us girls.
My friends love my hubby, he is pretty good!! I like him to.
He makes friends with everyone he meets and then they love him.
It can be annoying. But mostly I like it.

If I ever ran a festival (hmmmm!! mayhe something for the bucket list!)
I would serve decent food (and lots of it!)
I would not make water $5 nor would I think of charging $10 for a Canadian Club or a Jim Beam.
I would always make sure that people didnt run out of loo paper by 2pm. (lucky I had my own supply)
But they certianly got good bands in and lets face it, its all about the music -
and THAT certianly did not disapoint!

cant wait till next year.

Bedroom Love

I love this room, simple not styled with in an inch of its life. just relaxing, cheery and personal.

I have to own this chair and cushion... like, yesterday!!

This is my inspiration pic for Archie's new bedroom, but he will have an Owl theme going on,
but in a subtle way, I just love the simple look of white linen, the bright fabrics on the cushions, bunting and floor, and then the art work on the walls tie everything in - so sweet.
and better still, he gives it the thumbs up.yay!

Playroom Inspiration

Okay, so the playroom I need to have in our house, will double as a guest room. Sofa bed needs to be purchased. I think I want to get a white one with washable slip covers.. am I crazy??
Curtains, Im thinking of using a fabric I considered for Archie's room. But I think it will work better in the playroom......

I have these bird flash cards, that I want to use

Then I was going to make LOTS of cushions for pretty fabrics. some a bit girly.. I need a bit of that around here. And some BIG floor cushions... or maybe an ottoman. The room has robes down one side of it, great storage for all the toys. will leave those.
Then a reading corner with a book shelf and comfy chair, covered in matching fabrics..

I was also thinking of doing a string of bunting to liven it up.
And Etsy art has been purchased already.

I want it bright and cheery, eclectic and fun.

Also I have a wooden chest, so I think that can house more of the larger toys that dont fit in the robes.

And as for a TV, I will probably go ahead and put one it... truth is I have been out voted. I did tell M it didnt need to be an 85 inch one, just a small one, so hopefully he listened to that.

Will post before and after pictures once the project is finished.
So above are my inspiration pics for the room.
Its a bit mumbo jumbo in my head how this room will work, if it will work at all, its not a big room, but is has great natural light and is right in the centre of the home... where all kiddo's should be playing.

wish me luck.

Must get organised

I have to get it together.

I mean, its getting crazy. I have lists, boy do I have lists but they are really so long and uninspiring I keep forgetting to look at them.

How do you do a whole house, when decorating that is.
Do you do room by room.

I think this is what I have to do, because Im all over the shop.

Where to start though.
Bedrooms, playrooms, living rooms aggggghhhhhh!
I have so many ideas and I think its all overlapping.

I was thinking of doing a mood board for each room but who has time.

I think Im going to do a 'to do' post and go through it line by line until the house is complete.
Then no doubt my husband will want to sell it.

Nooks

I love nooks in houses, I would have one in every room if my husband let me, he thinks nooks are weird.
He does love bay windows, thats another post, my bay window obsession..

I think children especially love nooks.
So I thought Id post some of my favorite nooky pictures.
Enjoy

Closet Crush

M. is talking of bashing down our old house and building on the site, the lure (that almost has me) is I would get a dressing room..... for. ever. I have wanted one of these, I am NOT a hoarder with anything, Im a real chucker, but clothes and shoes I cant part with, I have things I am never, ever going to wear again, Actually I might take a picture of the pink fluffy raver jacket I wore at 18 (then you will belive me, its never getting worn again) but I cant part with it, I have soooo many dresses, I love frocks and shoes, I think I own maybe 4 pairs of jeans and 2 other pairs of pants and the rest of my clothes are skirts and dresses.
Shoes, I stopped counting at over 100.. ( nost of them are in boxes in the shed) crazy. Anyway - the thought of all my beloved shoes and frocks having their own special room... makes me giddy...enough that I googled dreamy closets and dressing rooms .....eeek... but dont tell M. this.

Mariah Carey's shoes.... even more reason to dislike her.

Nikki Hilton's dressing room - Stylish.

Kimora Lee Simmons - I love her style, she is so cute.

Rachel Zoo - I feel let down by her closet - but I love her so much I will get over it,
Not so keen on the way it looks, but will have the contents in a heartbeat, Her style is right on my radar.
Love it!

Paris Hilton's dressing room.
A-MA-ZING
Yes, Please, bring on the bulldozer.

Smitten with Swedish

I think why I love Swedish Style so much, is that not only does it hold a lot of white (and yeah, I have a thing for white) but a few other key factors are how much natural light they love in their interiors.. there nothing better than natural light, its just so well,  natural and light..ha!

Another thing is that I think it works so well in Australia and with our lifestyle.
its simple, elegant but relaxed.

I know a lot of interiors over the past 10 years have become very cookie cutter and I hate to say it but sterile, its just not my cup of tea, while i can appricate the look, my kids with their vegemite on toast dont match it., I really never understood the inspiration of dark wood with a random apple in the middle of a large dish on a table, I prefer flowers simple or abundant, I dont like clutter, but I like cosy, I have to live in a fresh and clean look for me this style is perfect.
Swedish style interiors are becoming more and more popular. It’s a look that combines refined style with a casual appearance that seems to have universal appeal.

I wont go on (you know I could)... here are some pictures for you your veiwing pleasure.

face it, who dosent like it when the dog matches the sofa. perfection.

Enjoy

ps- my '52 weeks' post is coming tommorrow. almost a week late, gotta love my new years passion .. or not.

My Catherine Martin Crush

Here is look inside the home of Australian production designer Catherine Martin and Baz Luhrman

Oh. My. God. It's Lavish, Amazing!!!! affordable to us mere mortals.. erm. no.
I can hear the cash registers cha-chinging from here, but I still die and go breifly to Interior Heaven (tell me there is such a place) when I see these pics, I had to share.

Catherines range of homewares including a wallpaper range for Porters Painters, and a range for Designer Rugs are so beautiful, she is such a talent.

Im not sure I would decorate my home like this, its sooo WOW, but they look incredible in her stunning home. So rich, in the deep yummy way. I also love the black gloss finish she has painted on the architraves and doors, fireplace etc... bold and so effective. Im not that brave, but Im happy to look at the pictures much more and draw whatever inspiration I can.

Eat that Florence Broadhurst.

I am saving my pennys for this rug. I love it so much for my bedroom. Would make a nice birthday present. Hint hint!

Pretty Table

I love to set the table nicely, I seem to like anything that involves eating in some shape or form .. I blame my Dutch genes for my unhealthy obsession with Food, then I married a foodie and there just no hope.
But, there's something special about a celebration with a table that matches the occasion.
These paper flowers are just the prettiest things I have seen in a long time.
Not that Im thinking about Easter but they would look so lovely set out for a Tea Party, Bridal Shower or even Easter. Heck, I think if you had enough will to make enough of these babies for a wedding they would look breathtaking.

Also note the brown paper roll for the runner base and the stamped napkins. they make me happy.
